The Crow’s Flight starts in medieval Maribor and finishes near the Croatian border. It’s an exhilarating walking tour into the Greatest Escape of WW2, spectacular mountain scenery and historic villages experiencing the cuisine, wines and history of provincial Slovenia. Rolling hills, baroque churches, gourmet food and local spas. Experience it all while retracing the footsteps of the hundred or so prisoners of war who endured it all in the midst of WW2 and patrolling Nazi forces.
We start in Maribor, the capital of north-east Slovenia. A train takes us up the Drava valley to Ozbalt where the biggest escape of WW2 began, we follow the escape route through the rolling Pohorje Hills, then descend into thermal spa country, swift rivers, hot springs and lush green countryside until we reach the spa town of Topolšica that’s been the centre of this region for centuries.
