The 17-day walk in 2019 recreates the historic escape that freed about 100 men on its 75th anniversary. A briefer 14-day tour, with a rest day, allows the trekker to experience the escape amidst traditional and hotel-style accommodation, gourmet food, great local wines and ported luggage. The first night is spent in medieval Maribor, the last in Kalska domačija in Štrekljevec, near Semič, close to the Croatian border. The 5-day Walking Tour explores the first few stages of the escape trail starting in Maribor and the 6-Day Walking Tour starts in Ljubljana with the walk commencing at the might Sava River.
